SOLD: 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV

This vehicle is now SOLD.

This is an all electric 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV with only 40,400 miles, “Blizzard Pearl” white exterior color and what remains of its 8-year /100,000-mile extended warranty (in service date October 2013). Non-smoking, original owner.

This is an awesome, fun-to-drive, fully electric car built by Toyota using a Tesla drivetrain and battery system.  It has the same interior design as a gas-powered RAV4 of the same period but has a powerful electric motor instead of a gas engine.  This means you never go to a gas station and never need an oil change.  It requires almost no maintenance: basically just tire rotation.  Even the brakes last forever because it uses the electric motor to recapture energy and slow down – hardly using the brakes. The instant torque and power provides fantastic acceleration and makes it a blast to drive.

With a normal charge, you’ll get about 100 miles and with an “extended” full charge you get an additional 10-20 miles.  Your actual range varies depending on how fast you go, city streets vs highway driving, uphill vs downhill, cold or hot weather, etc.  The electricity cost is typically about 1/4 of the cost of gasoline for the same distance or of course even completely free if you’re charging off of solar power.

It has a standard, widely-available “J1772” charging port for charging at home and at the many available public charging stations (see plugshare.com for locations).  It also has an aftermarket “fast charging” CHAdeMO-compatible port (a $2999 add-on called “JdeMO”), which is capable of charging to 80% from near empty in about 40 minutes or so.

Features: Front Wheel Drive, Bluetooth, Navigation System, Dual Zone Climate Control, Cruise Control, Tinted Windows, Power Steering, Power Mirrors, Leather Steering Wheel, Homelink System, Telescoping Steering Wheel, Steering Wheel Radio Controls, Driver, Passenger & Side Airbags, Rear Defogger, Intermittent Wipers, AM/FM, HD/Satellite Radio, Cloth Interior, Center Arm Rest, Child Proof Door Locks, Automatic Headlights, Daytime Running Lights, Front Heated Seats, Overhead Console, Rear Wipers, Roll Stability Control, Tire Pressure Monitor, Vanity Mirrors, Toyota Entune subscription option available for remote access (location, climate control) via your smartphone.

It has an aftermarket tow hitch with a two-inch receiver, an AGM 12V battery (replacing the original lead acid 12V battery) and the interior lights upgraded to white LED’s.  The rear seats can be slid forward and back and each can be separately reclined.  When folded down they make a huge cargo area.  (About 68″ long, 53″ wide, and 43″ between the wheel wells.)  There’s also a wonderful large hidden storage area under the rear cargo floor that’s great for stowing items out of sight.

The vehicle comes with only a very slow 120V charging cable (only 2-3 miles/hour) so you’ll want to buy a more capable 240V charging cable to fully charge from empty in just a few hours.  The car is capable of charging at home at up to 40A at 240V (20+ miles/hour) via the standard charge port.

The car is in great condition and has only a couple of minor exterior blemishes on the rear door.  (See more pictures.) The motor was replaced under warranty by Toyota in April 2018 due to the classic “milling” noise that developed with these earlier Tesla designs. There’s been no problem with it since.

I’m asking $16,500 and, unlike other RAV4 EV’s you may find, this includes a tow hitch and the $2999 aftermarket CHAdeMO fast charger unit that makes travel beyond its 100-120 mile range much more convenient.
