On the third and fourth day we explore the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We hike out to Mauna Ulu in the afternoon and return to camp just outside the park. We hike over to see the glowing steam venting out of Kilauea that night. On Tuesday, we do a big loop hike along the caldera to visit many of the highlights of the park. That afternoon we leave to drive around to the Puna region to get near enough to watch the distant lava flow from the roadway. (It's all still privately owned land there.)
