We take a huge ferry to Thíra and gape as we arrive in the caldera that makes up the islands of Santorini. On the following day, we hike from our hotel in Firá, along the caldera to the village of Ía (or Oia) accompanied by two dogs as escort along the way. On the third day, before our flight back to Athens, several of us choose to take a tour out to the active part of the volcano in the center of the caldera.
