Labor Day Weekend with Mike, Jeanie, and Troy... and Chloe!
The intention was to climb Mt. Langley near Mt. Whitney but given how quickly all the trailheads filled up,
we were lucky to have any entry within a few hours drive.
|Morning in the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, CA|
|Setting off from the Pine Creek Pack Station -- we've got about 2400 ft to climb over four and a half miles.||Climbing above the Pine Creek Tungsten Mine|
|We reach Pine Lake a little before sunset.|
|Upper Pine Lake|
|That's our target on the left... this should be, uh... interesting.|
|Looking back down from whence we came...||A panorama from about 11,600 ft taking in Feather Peak on the left at about 13,000', a few unnamed peaks, Italy Pass, and Mt. Julius Caesar in the middle right. (This is about a 90 degree sweep.)|
|Starting to get into some serious boulder negotiation...||We're going up where?|
|Clearly a 45 degree slope and climbing...||Yowza -- the view from about 12,000 or so feet. Okay, how do we get down from here?|
|Just came down all that.||We were up there!|
