After our three day hiking or biking segment, we arrive on the west coast and stay overnight near Punakaiki and the home of the "pancake rocks." We awake to a beautiful post-rain morning and do some hiking along one of the swollen rivers of Paparoa National Park. Then we continue south along the coast with a stop in Hokitika to see some jade crafting and a stop at the "Bushman's Centre" before continuing on to Franz Josef. Day 12 starts with kayaking in the Okarito Lagoon followed by hiking in the afternoon rain along the nearby beach and coastal forest.
